I have loaded up on Gov Bonds…
Investment portfolio
I have had some readers asking about my portfolio allocation so I thought I would do a short and sweet blog post just to show some “facts and figures”. Keep in mind that these numbers are just related to my portfolio and do not include the Mrs’ (which are normally included in my regular updates).
As per the title and if you read my blog posts, you will know that I have been “loading up” on Government Bonds. I have been too early but I am sticking by my guns and feel Government Bonds will provide a good hedge against the turmoil I expect in the markets over the next few months. I do not want to get into the reasons why here but I will give you some quick fire Google searches to give some context on some of the indicators flashing red (you might need to do some wider reading to understand what these mean):
Anyway, enough of me fearmongering you - always remember that you should make your own investment decisions based on your view of the market. Copying me is probably not a wise idea as I am likely to get it wrong!
Investment vehicle breakdown
OK, first up is my portfolio breakdown in terms of investment vehicle. See chart below.
As I feel should always be the case, I try to maximise the use of “tax efficient” investment vehicles. That is why you will see most of my portfolio split between my Pension (37%) and my ISA (31%).
Investment asset class breakdown
Next is the breakdown in terms of asset class. See chart below.
As I said before, I have gone a little heavy on the Government Bonds (42%) but I still have a fair allocation to Stocks, Shares & Funds (36%). My House Equity makes up 17% and Crypto makes up 4% with Cash only making up a small 1%.
Investments detailed breakdown
Finally, a detailed breakdown of which investments are included in my portfolio. As you can see, I have a large allocation to US Government Bonds (37%) with my House Equity (17%) being my second largest investment. I then have a decent allocation to a globally diversified index fund (16%) and then my favourite non-index investment fund / trust Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust (8%).
